TUITION
FLUTE / FIFE / GUITAR (CLASSICAL, ACOUSTIC, ELECTRIC) / UKULELE
Rachel and Simon are music graduates with almost forty years of combined teaching experience in both the school and private tuition sectors. Both teachers hold the CT ABRSM qualification, a teaching certificate specific to instrumental teaching.
As experienced and highly qualified musicians and teachers, Rachel and Simon are able to provide tuition from beginner to post grade 8/diploma level, with current students ranging from seven years old to retirement age.
Although graded examinations can be undertaken, Rachel and Simon are proud to teach the whole instrument and do not restrict their curriculum solely to the exam syllabus. There is a strong emphasis that learning music at any level is a life long journey, and all students are provided with ongoing opportunities to use their skills outside of their lessons through a variety of teacher led ensembles.
Lessons are provided on a weekly basis with each session lasting for thirty minutes. However, there are opportunities to undertake hourly lessons on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis as appropriate. Appointments are available during daytimes and evenings on both weekdays and weekends.
Students are welcomed to a stunning purpose built home studio in a central Cramlington with ample free parking. Humidity and temperature controlled, the music room overlooks a quiet and pretty garden surrounded by mature trees. For added convenience for those wishing not to travel, lessons are also available via online video call apps such as Zoom, Skype or FaceTime.
All students (and parents of those under 18), are provided with access to the Dawson Music Student Portal. This online system allows learners to conveniently manage their lesson appointments 24/7 from any location, as well as documenting weekly lesson notes and providing access to a huge selection of bespoke study resources.
Both teachers are registered with the DBS service and have public liability insurance.
