FIFE CLUB
An extracurricular activity for primary schools.
The fife is a small, plastic, keyless flute which is particularly suitable for younger children beginning their musical journey. It is played by covering open holes like a recorder, but is held horizontally like the silver concert flute which is used in orchestras. The advantages of this particular instrument are that it is small, light and portable for little learners, as well as being extremely affordable for parents and schools.
Fife Club focuses on teaching children the basics of the instrument, as well as learning to read music notation through the use of age appropriate games and musical repertoire. Children are provided with regular opportunities to demonstrate their new musical skills to others through small performances to family and friends.
Once sufficient progress is made children have the opportunity to transition onto the silver concert flute. Flute tuition is then provided in small groups or on an individual basis.
